I really love these boots, but they definitely run big. If you are a half size, order the next size down! I wish I did!

I have been putting off buying these boots because of the price but when I saw them again this year and they came in black I decided to go for it since I haven't seen a pair I liked as much yet. I LOVE the look and fit of these boots. I usually wear 7 1/2 and ordered the 8 and they fit great. they are comfortable and stylish.

I'm giving these a 4 because there was a problem with the inside of the boot, that felt like a bump of material in the tow box, which I think its a result of the material being cut not quite right before being sewn in.

It can be squished down, and since I wear these with socks it doesn't seem to bother me yet. I would not be able to wear them barefoot though for sure because of this problem.

I would like to comment about the comfort of these boots. They are very bouncy and light. They are not heavy like most winter boots. It feels like there is air in the sole of the boot, because they definitely have a spring that I have never experienced in winter boots before. I'm not sure yet if I love it, but they are pretty comfortable. I wore them all day just once so far, and they were pretty comfortable. I can easily slip these on and off only because I have thin calves. They would be hard to get on or off if my pants were a little thicker or if my calves were thicker.

I also bought the ugg insoles with these

I'm writing this review only hours after I got these boots, and I am SO excited to try them out outside in the cold weather! I'm in Madison, Wisconsin, and this week is going to stay in the 30's and even dip into the 20's (Fahrenheit!). I will update this review accordingly, and come back in a couple months to write details on durability when it comes to some real winter weather (hello blizzards and -20 degrees!!).

The first thing I noticed out of the box is that they don't have any weird smells, which is great. The outside smell faintly of leather, because that's what they're made of. I looked up the company, and Bearpaw's boots are outside = leather, inside = sheepskin. So if you're thinking about using these in snow like me, we need to waterproof these babies! Luckily I have a spray already to use on them.

The inside of these boots is SO SOFT. If I wore these barefoot (which you can, apparently, but for me - ew! I get sweaty feet), my feet would be in heaven. I tried wearing them with bare legs to see how soft it felt (because against your hands it doesn't feel that soft, it's got kind of a soft, but wooly feel to it) and against my legs it felt so fluffy and silky, so airy!! And warm!! None of the color (I ordered Chocolate) has transferred to my socks/pants. Awesome!

Also, from ALL the pictures I browsed through on the internet, none of them had any good views of the inner lining. I really wanted to judge how thick it was before I ordered, but since I couldn't find any good pictures, I just trusted the reviews saying that they're warm enough for really, really cold winters. And the lining is decently thick - I'd say it's about an inch thick, although over time it might get compressed a little with constant wear. The soles are a different color wool than the rest (it's white instead of chocolate), but still soft and fluffy. It feels like I'm walking on down pillows, mmmm! I put up several pictures of my boots if anyone is interested - of all angles, including the lining! Here is a link to my video of the boot:
        [...]

Some of the reviews said that after a month or two the lining starts wearing off and comes off on your clothes... The lining looks pretty well made, so I don't know if that will happen, but I will update this review if it does start coming off. Hopefully not... I am really loving these!

The bottom of the boots is made of really nice, sturdy but flexible rubber and I can see this really holding up for Wisconsin winters! So excited!! It's as thick as my other winter boots, so that's great news.

        SIZE:
I read so many reviews about what size to order, and it just got confusing. There were pretty much equal amounts of reviews telling you to order down a size, or order up a size. So I went to the Bearpaw website and they suggested ordering up a size...

I usually wear a 9.5 exact (no size 9, no size 10), so I decided to order a size 10. It makes sense, because there's a layer of fluff that you have to consider when you think about how much space there is for your feet. The size 10 fits me really well. When I first put them on, they seemed a tad bit small, but after walking around in them for a few hours, they're already form-fitting to my feet.

Basically: when you order, think about what your size would be when considering an extra inch of lining around your feet, and also remember that you don't want to order too large, because they do form around your feet after some use (that lining will be squished by your walking!). If you're a half size, order the next whole size like I did. I can't speak for people who have whole sizes because I didn't have that situation, but hopefully a size up won't be too big!

On an interesting side note, I think I remember that the Bearpaw website says you can wear these in any kind of weather - and I think that's just weird? How could you wear these on a hot summer day?? These are real winter boots and your feet would hate you for that, hah!

        **** UPDATE ************************ UPDATE ************************* UPDATE ******************************************
        January 2, 2014

So good news everyone! Turns out that the fur lining does NOT rub off on your clothes/socks. I think it kind of did like the second or third day I wore it (probably because it was getting broken in), but it wasn't even that much, and after that it has NEVER happened again. The color never has rubbed off on anything, even in the beginning.

So at this point I would DEFINITELY recommend that you DO NOT buy a size up if you can get your exact size. Only order a little up if you have a half size, just because they don't sell half sizes. After breaking them in they really form fit to your feet, so don't freak out if they feel a little tight when you first get them (it's just that the lining hasn't been squished by your feet yet - think of it like getting super fluffy slippers that mold to your feet).

The boot itself is holding up phenomenal, it's so worth the money! The rubber sole looks barely touched or scuffed or worn down at all and I've been wearing them daily since I got these (so mid-November til beginning of January at this point). I used them to walk to class every day (a mile or two) and I have been running and tramping through half a foot of snow with them. Waterproofing them helps them keep dry and also miraculously keeps all traces of salt stains off - they literally look like I just got them like last week, it's amazing.

As for the stitching on the sides - before I bought them I read some reviews saying that the thread has come apart on the stitching on the outside. So far for me, the stitching has been doing really great - I think there were a couple tiny fly aways at first but it's inconsequential to the strength of the stitches (holding up real well) and no more are occurring over time.

So finally the weather has been getting really cold here (this week we are getting -45 degrees Fahrenheit with the windchill factor and several inches of snow), and I never leave the house without these boots! Actually if I wear them inside the house my feet get too warm. These keep me warm no matter what I'm doing (hiking, walking on frozen lakes, walking through snow and wind). Because of these boots, I actually don't care about the weather outside anymore! I never worry about my toes getting cold, which was a HUGE problem with some of my other boots I've had over the years, because even though the boots were thick and sturdy on the outside (hard rubber or leather), they just didn't keep my toes warm. These are life savers for a Wisconsin girl in Winter!! I don't care about people who say they would never buy them because they look like uggs - I bought these for warmth and boy do they deliver. I have always gone for comfort when it comes to apparel and this is going to be a staple of mine if they don't discontinue these for the next few decades.

This is my second pair of Bearpaw boots. My first ones were bought from an actual retailer and these came in the exact same packaging as my others. Even down to the shoe box inserts. They're super comfy and soft. I feel like this will become my new collection/addiction! Here are the ones I got in charcoal. Don't mind the odd angle of my legs haha

I wear a size 8 and ordered a size 8. They fit perfectly. They are very warm and cozy whether I wear them with socks or not. I got my pair at a steal for only $17.00 but when I went back to order another pair (I wanted one for in the house as slippers and one for out and about) they had gone back up in price. They are definitely worth the higher price though.

I have had these for about a month now and they are still going strong even though I often end up doing my farm chores in them.... When I spill water on them it does not go through to my feet (I would probably still put the water proof spray on if you intend to wear them in wet environments for a long period of time though.)

My puppy chewed two toggles off (UGH!) - but I went to the bearpaw website and it turns out you can order replacements with no shipping charge. SO I really have nothing but good things to say about these boots. I have bought my daughter several pairs and they always hold up well. I am so glad that I finally decided to get a pair for myself!

Cozy boots for Alaska winters and great price compared to similar products. I have like 5 pairs of bear paw boots and these are my least favorite though. The And? They're not treated with waterproof stuff. Boo. Also, the soles have NO traction whatsoever... what the heck is that all about? Also, since they don't come in half sizes, I had to get them a whole size bigger to allow for fluffy socks. But this causes the support inside the shaft of the boot to dig into the back of my heel. The Good? I have bunions and the toe box is generous and doesn't squash my tootsies. Gray is a fairly unusual boot color to begin with, but these are awesome cause they are exactly the right color to match pretty much and shade of gray. I love that the lining is also gray. Overall recommended.

These are my fourth pair of Bearpaw boots. The last two pairs I had last me a few years before I decided they weren't acceptable to wear outside of the house anymore lol. These boots are super comfortable and plush when you first buy, but the inner sole does start to wear away after a while and it just feels flat in the shoe, not plushy and soft. One the up side, the rest of the shoe wears like your favorite pair of jeans each time you wear them. They definitely keep your feet warmer than a pair of sneakers or flats and are stylish to boot. I'm glad that Bearpaw decided to get rid of the metal logo hardware that they used to put on the back of the heel and the side of the boot. My hardware came off all of my boots and looked so tacky. I probably could have gotten another year out of those if it wasn't for that. I love this company and these boots, and will definitely be buying a few more pairs.

As an aside: Buy the super hydrophobic spray LiquidOff to preserve the suede on these. You won't regret it and they sell it on Amazon.

This is my second pair of FatBaby boots because I LOVE FatBaby boots. Not only are they comfortable but they are stylish. Now I'm no cowgirl so I didn't buy them to wear mucking stalls or to look good while riding my horse. I simply bought them because I needed a black pair and they look great with both my Blue Jeans and my Skinny Jeans. Because I have a narrow foot with a high arch and my feet tend to start aching mid way through the day, no matter what type of shoe I wear, I put insoles in all of my shoes. However, when I put my insoles in these boots the top of my foot rubbed on the top of the boot making it very uncomfortable. However, without the insoles the boots are too roomy, my feet flop around and I have no arch support. But I figured out that if I wear two pairs of socks there is not as much flop room and I can comfortably wear and walk in the boots most of the day. This can be a little inconvenient in the summer months but I've heard somewhere that sometimes you have to suffer for beauty, and I personally feel the sweaty feet are worth how good I look in the boots, call me shallow if you will, I don't care. My favorite thing about these boots are how great they look on me. I can't wait until I get my next pair.

I originally ordered the size 11W, which was nice and wide, but a little bit too long for my foot. I then ordered the same boot from the same seller in a 10.5W and I was surprised to receive a different boot. As you can see from the picks, they look similar from the front, but the sole is completely different and the stitching is different. The real problem is that the 10.5W was much more narrow, The 11W is on the right side in the pics and you can see the difference in width. The 10.5W was good in length for me but much too narrow, I confirmed on the label that it was a wide width, but the fit was totally different from the 11W. Be aware that the fit and style you receive may vary

        Me Up Scotty
I always buy cold weather boots 2-3 sizes too big so I can wear heavy wool socks while deer hunting and ice fishing. I also put a foam insole in the bottom for additional insulation. Tight boots will make your feet get cold fast. They seemed a little on the small side. Nonetheless they fit good enough. They are definitely not -40 degree boots but I live in N. Michigan, not the North Pole, so they're fine. My feet got chilly after sitting for a couple of hours on a 34 degree day. These are felt pack boots, not Thinsulate packs (which are warmer) but for the price I can't complain. I had a pair of Ranger cold weather boots with Thinsulate packs and they were awesome, even on the lake when it was 0 degrees but they dry-rotted in less than a year. They were also twice as much money. I gave them a 4 star rating because they're not -40 degree boots as advertised. I supposed if you were hiking your feet wouldn't freeze solid, but they're not for sitting still at -40 for any length of time but they are a good value for the price.
